Most transgendered people grew up as orphans! Think about it. Most of us had parents who loved and cared for their children based on the sex of the child, not the gender. Sure, our parents saw to it that needs of the physical little boy they had were met, but they did not take care of the little girl that was inside that little boy's body because they did not realize that she existed. This thought dawned on me as I bemoaned the fact that Karen did not have a mother to help her learn to fix her own hair, and sew her the outfits only a mother can make, etc... So, our inner selves, our "real" selves, grew up as orphans! What a sad thought.
